Sometimes you may feel like your aesthetic dreams are just beyond reach.

A vision board might be just the tool you need. It’s not only a really fun creative project but it’s also a powerful way to visualize and manifest your life goals.

Something to boost your optimism and to keep you going no matter the challenges.

So with all that said, we’ll walk through the steps to create a vision board that’s both inspiring and aesthetic.

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a collage of images, words, and quotes that represent what you want to accomplish or attract in your life in the near future.

Here’s How You Can Create One

1. Define your goals

First things first: know and understand what you want to achieve. It can be:

  • Becoming Valedictorian.
  • Being an International student.
  • Getting into your dream University.
  • Being Healthy.
  • Becoming rich.
  • Aiming for an aesthetic body.
  • Traveling the World.
  • Having multiple businesses.
  • Becoming famous. E.g. a YouTube channel with over 100k Subscribers.
  • Getting your dream job, e.g.:
    • Airline Pilot.
    • Doctor.
    • Engineer, etcetera.

This step is about defining your aesthetic goals clearly. Here’s how to start:

Identify your style

Think about the styles that make you feel good. Are you into:

  • Modern?
  • Bohemian?
  • Vintage vibes?

Color palette

Pick colors that resonate with you. Do you love:

  • Calm neutrals?
  • Bold colors?
  • A mix of all?

Design elements

Think about patterns, textures, and layout that speaks you. Do you prefer:

  • Sleek lines?
  • Cozy textures?
  • Eclectic prints?

2. Gather inspiration

Gather materials that capture your aesthetic. This is where you start piecing together the visuals that will shape your board. And there are no rules to this. Things such as:

Magazines and newspaper

Cut out images and quotes or just text that reflect your style. So with that, look for:

  • Fashion.
  • Home décor.
  • Lifestyle content.

Pinterest and instagram

Save images that inspire you. Create boards that fit your vision.

Fabric swatches

Get physical samples of colors and textures you love, e.g.

  • Velvet in deep red.
  • Linen in soft beige.
  • Silk in royal blue.

Nature Elements

Add in:

  • Pressed flowers
  • Leaves
  • Textures

..that align with your vision.

Vision statements

Write down clear statements of what you want to achieve and add them to your board.

3. Choose your vision board base

Decide on the base for your vision board. It should fit your style and be practical for your space. Think of something like a:

Corkboard

You can use a cork board which is great for an ever-changing display. Plus, its wooden design adds to the aesthetic appeal of it.

Poster board

Perfect for a larger and more static board which gives you more space to add as many images and text or drawings as you want.

Digital canvas

This is ideal if you prefer a virtual board. This one is advantageous because you can update it whenever you like and however you want. And the best place to create it is Canva.

Magnetic board

Use a magnetic surface to easily rearrange and swap out images and quotes with magnets easily so.

String and clothespin display

Hang images and quotes on a string using clothespins for a minimalist and flexible display.

Scrapbook

Create a portable vision board by dedicating pages in a scrapbook to different aspects of your goals.

4. Organize and arrange

Now this is where the fun begins—arranging your materials and putting everything together.

Main elements first

Start with the largest images or images that are the most important to you and add or paste them to the board.

Mix and match

Combine different elements using what we suggested above and see what looks best together.

Adjust as needed

Move things around until you’re completely satisfied with the layout.

5. Add personal touches

Add meaning to your board and make it uniquely yours by adding personal elements like:

Handwritten notes

Add affirmations or personal goals.

Personal photos

Include pictures of yourself, your loved ones, or any memorable moment.

Custom doodles

Draw small sketches or symbols that represent your dreams and goals. E.g.:

  • If you want to become a pilot, draw small Aircrafts.
  • If you want to become a doctor, draw a Hospital.

..You get the idea.

Stickers and washi tape

Use decorative stickers like:

  • Stars
  • Emojis
  • Plain colors

..or washi tape to highlight important elements and add flair.

Initials or monogram

Add your initials or a monogram to personalize the board even further.

Mini-calendars

Attach small calendars to mark important dates or deadlines for your goals.

Handmade elements

Add handmade items like:

  • Small crafts
  • Origami
  • Knitted pieces

..to bring a deep personal touch.

6. Visualize and affirm

Place your vision board where you’ll always see it. Make it a daily habit to always look at it so that your goals are at the front and center. Things like:

Daily visualizations

Spend a few moments each day imagining yourself achieving your goals.

Affirmations

Repeat positive statements that align with your vision.

7. Examples of digital vision boards

7.2 Vision board for fitness

7.3 Business vision board

Final Thoughts

And that’s really about it. Getting creative and artsy with something that’s aligned with your aesthetic goals. Which is a unique and an enjoyable experience.

So, it’s as simple as defining your vision, collecting inspiration, and adding personal touches, to keep yourself motivated and optimistic about your future.

And regularly interacting with your board can and will help turn your dreams into reality.

    1. Hi there, No it’s not difficult at all and you don’t need to be a tech person to start one. I’m gonna tell you exactly what I did but please research important info about starting a blog. I bought a domain and a web hosting plan from GoDaddy and then I downloaded WordPress on the hosting plan. I then chose a theme to fit my aesthetics, and finally I began publishing. Good Luck!!
